3: Yuu Watase’s Perfected New Work
4: Toward new ground
5: On a mountain slope, alone, unaccompanied…

6: Except for you, lonely blossoms, to others I am unknown
7: The time is the Taisho Era
8: The world was a mix of uneasiness and enjoyment
Note: The words in italics are part of 小倉百人一首, or "A 100 Poems but a 100 Poets". This exert is from poem #66, but High Priest Gyouson. I blended the translations from this website and this website to get a translation that sounded best.

9: A boy with high ambitions traveled to the capital…
10: and by chance, met a young man who was brought up by loneliness.

11: It was like I was being called to in the swirling dancing petals…
12: Drawing in both of our souls…

13: …was either the blessing of the shades of petals falling to the ground or the reverberations as they plunge to perish.
14: How can a man of such beauty exist in the world?
15: “Cherry Blossom Hunt”
16: -a preview- end

1: Yuu Yuu Newspaper
*The “Yuu” is not as in “Watase Yuu”, but as in the “Yuu” in [Fushigi] Yuugi. It doesn’t really mean anything.
2: Detailed Explanation of “Sakura Gari”
3: This is a different world and appearance than “FushiYu”.
4: Extra Large New Work
5: Gorgeous Taishou Romantic, in small steps/inch by inch/in increments
6. Here we start with episode & character creation, a monopoly of information revealed!
*Note. The word monopoly here is referring to the secret information on SG that Watase was in control of and is now revealing it in a big grand display. If someone can think of a better way to word this, please tell me.
7. The veil on the epic “Sakura Gari” has been removed after 10 years of conception! In a setting of Taishou Era Tokyo, the story begins from the meeting of a homely student and a young nobleman. According to authoress Miss Watase, “This one is different. The plans are for it to become a play, a drama, of strong likes and dislikes”.
8. Tagami Masataka | Kazoedoshi, age 17
*Kazoedoshi is the term for newborns being considered as 1 year old upon date of birth, as opposed to the more common manner of stating a newborn is 0 years old upon date of birth.
9: He aimed for the best high school then Toudai and went off to Tōkyō.
*Toudai is short for Tōkyo Daigaku, or Tōkyō College. It’s extremely difficult to get into, and noted for producing politicians, lawyers, and other high-ranking professionals.
He attended prep school as a rounin and also became a pupil of the Saiki family.
*A rounin is a term referring to a student that attends school between high school and college, usually studying to get into college after failing the entrance exams the first time. The term is derived from Japanese history as rounin were samurai who did not have a master to follow or train under.
Honest and a prodigy, a kind and gentle disposition, rather natural.
Hobbies are reading and songs (he’s a little bit backwards).
10. Saiki Souma | Kazoedoshi, age 25
11. He is the son of a distinguished noble of the Saiki Koushyaku family. He has English blood in him from his mother, and he has a pretty face that’s not typically Japanese.
His hobbies are reading, piano, and billiards.
12. Masataka & Souma Concept Art
13. Here is the concept art and facial expression collection for the two main characters.
As Miss Watase tells is, she consulted her data as reference for the customs, mannerisms, attire, etc., for the characters’ costumes in those days and devotedly reproduced it.
14. Typical of a student, he has on a standing collared shirt, hakama, and wears geta on his feet. This gives him a dynamic impression.
*Hakama are traditional Japanese pants that tie on the sides. Kenshin in Rurouni Kenshin wore them continuously. Geta are Japanese wooden clogs.
15. As the son of a noble family, Souma dresses stylishly in high quality suits. He has a refined appearance, and attracts people regardless of their gender.
16: [The other characters here]
17: Even though they all have their own habits, I put all these characters on the back burner because I had a premonition that they were going to give me trouble with the story.
How will they’ll be involved with Masataka and Souma, I wonder…?
18. Miss Watase cannot help brimming with fighting spirit as she is in middle of writing the story to this book! With great interest, please wait for the development of the plot!
19. Please look forward to it!
Disclaimer: I am not fluent in Japanese, and these translations may not be 100% accurate. However, they are better than anything you can get out of Babelfish. Sakura Gari is copyrighted by Watase Yuu.
Also, I translated "Sakura Gari" as "Cherry Blossom Hunt" but "A Search for Cherry Blossoms" works too.
I uploaded the text translation here. If anyone wants a copy. I don't mind if you post the translations elsewhere, just, please please credit!
With love,
Hikari

Arigato!
Thanks for the translation & uploading the file! I have my copy of Rinka and have been puzzling over the pictures with my extremely limited Japanese trying to guess at the story. Thanks for giving me more to work with, I know this must have taken a lot of time and effort. Thanks for your hard work.
